Frequently Asked Questions

Is joining free? If so how do you benefit from this?

Yes, becoming a member of musicandting.com is completely free.

It's not about profit it's about exposure, we are artists too so we gain the same as any other member on this site. We showcase music and coordinate so that artists can meet producers and vice versa. Hopefully what we will gain from this is a stronger music industry in Dominica due to the showcasing of our underground talent. We also want to provide the same exposure for our international artists.

If I join can someone download my music onto his/her PC?

The average visitor will not be able to but a computer savvy person can.

First off there are ways of creating a copy of any music that plays through your PC's speakers. We cannot prevent this. That said we stream music which means that the music is played from this site and not from the person's computer. If the person downloads the file linking to your music and plays it , it would still play from our site and not the person's PC because the file is a playlist and not an mp3.

I want to join but I am afraid my music will be stolen, are my fears justified?

If you put your CD in a record store a thief could pass by and steal your music off the shelf, go home and burn a dozen copies.

On the other hand, if someone tech savvy get's the mp3 of your music from this site it will be nothing near CD quality and they will notice it. This is because despite the quality of the music you send us we re-encode it to a bitrate of 96 kbps. CD quality for an mp3 is about 192 kbps and most people can notice the drop in quality of anything under 128 kbps.

If your question was, "would we at musicandting.com steal your music" then the answer is no. If we want to do anything such as make a compilation CD of music on this site, we would need your express permission to use your music.

Where can I upload my songs?

We do not currently have any way to let you upload your files to this site. this is in the works for the next major set of updates to this site. For now you will have to send your music as an attachment to contact@musicandting.com.

Why do I need to give my email before posting a comment?

First off your email address will not be displayed on this site so you will not be recieving any spam because of submitting it. Submitting your email address not only reduces spam comments and creates accountability, it also gives an email address so the webmaster can contact you concerning your comments if necessary.

Imagine a situation where your comment is that you would like to collaborate with some members. How will they contact you? They can request your email address from the webmaster and then you all can work it out instead of you having to post your email address on a public site.
